i know 70z arent olde skool but how could anyone make a volkswagen web page without putting their own pride n joy in it? if youre like me then u probably dont wanna read a detailed description of wat my bug haz gone thru, so ill spare u that misery. instead ill give just the interesting factz n a few picturez.

just 2 prove how much of an olde skool luver i am, i removed the padded dash off of my bug 2 c the beautiful metal instead of the dried out, krusti black vinyl. upon removing it i phound out i had a genuwyne olde skool dash!!! there were holezs already in it 2 accompany the separate gas gauge(next 2 the speedo) and ignition by the ashtray. i quikli went out n phound an olde skool gas gauge 2 phill in the hole (it didnt werk, but hey it looked cherri!) i decided 2 leave the ignition where it waz after much thinking. it wouldve been way 2 much werk 2 switch it over. my glove box waz blak 2 match the vinyl dash n also were the grillz, so those came off n got painted 2 match the rest of the dash. since the ashtray still had that vinyl stuff on it, i decided it had 2 go. so i bought an early model ashtray and painted it chrome (i didnt have any white paint) and i painted the inside purple! it lookz sweet!! now, about those big ugli blak knobz 4 the windshield washer n headlitez. i tried a friendz olde skool knob off hiz bug n it phit on mine! ok, i bought some knobs but they didnt fit all the way on...bummer. heres the weird part--the dash off the early ashtray fit tho. it must have a longer thread than the early model headlite knobs. so, now i gotta find some more ashtray knobs!

ive been told that my upholstery iz olde skool (itz red n white checkered cloth) so i think ill keep that. i have theze little orange reflectorz popping up on my rear bumper which i think r unique. they only came on 70 tho. i guess thatz all i have on my car thatz olde skool.

since i first owned my bug, she haz won 2 first place trophiez. but i dont consider her a show car, not by a long shot. altho just about everithyng haz been replaced except 4 the upholstery, wheelz n body, sad 2 say it waz all aftermarket. none of it phitz quite rite but the people at showz cant tell. well i guess thatz about it...ill b addin more later.
