olde skool iz a term generalli used 2 descrybe a certain type of look. frum muzik (like the "lowrider" song) 2 clothez (such as heavy plaid flannelz with corduroy collarz) n of courze carz. colorz can b olde skool 2. mostly brown, green, coral, white n blak. but hoo carez about muzik n clothez, were talkin volkswagenz here! so letz 4get about all the other stuff. i think the best way i could defyne it would b a custom vintage look. sorta like resto- custom but not with tonz of money poured into restoring it. the kind of people hoo own olde skool vwz r the kind hoo rilli luv their carz n do all kindzs of unique stuff 2 it. like adding a bee catcher, fabricating taillite eyebrowz, etc. they mostly fall into the high school category, guyz hoo want their bug or bus 2 look kewl. but UH HMM there r sum gyrlz out there hoo like it az well. (like yourz truli).

herez wat they gotta have:

• 67 or earlier model (bug or bus)
• lowered so low the front tirez rub the fender
• wood slat roof rack with vintage luggage, kewlerz, suitcasez, etc on top.
• even better--a decklid rack
• stock bumperz or bladez with bumper barz
• empi 5 spoke wheelz or stock smoothiez
• or even better--sprint starz!
• 2-tone paint job with most commonly white on the bottom (white on top 4 bussez)
• no major modiphikationz
• at least ONE empi accessory on it
• original 6 volt radio in dash
• thermodor hangin out the passenger window
• a pritti much stock engyne except 4 minor modifykashunz.

an olde skool vw doeznt haveta have ALL of these characterystikz. a few can b left out n still b classiphied az o.g. one thing 4 sure...olde skool volkswagenz r NOT show carz. u will never phind olde skool on the cover of a magazine or most of the time anywhere in it. occasionally i phind sum in the readerz ridez section but thatz it.

UPDATE: people have writing me saying that my page iz not olde skool...they say olde skool is racing cars with souped up engines and no luggage on top of roofrax. they say my page is more of a cal-look style. well 2 those of u hoo think thiz way....thiz is cal-look:

notice a difference? ill try 2 clear thiz up with a different explanation. olde skool people r into the way thingz used 2 b. for example, a long time ago they had thermodors to keep cool in the summer but now lotz of cars have a/c. so by having a thermodor u r olde skool-ing it. get wat im trying to say? same thing with empi--empi used 2 b rilli big back in the 60's n 70's so by having sum empi stuff on your car itz now olde skool-ed. i also think olde skool iz racing (i added a racing pic 2 my 'Olde Skool Bugz N Bussez' section) because they used 2 do that back then (i know they do it now 2 but itz not the same). so i guess wat im trying 2 say iz that anything that waz used back a few decadez ago iz olde skool.
